👗 A Wedding Season Like You Haven’t Seen Since the 80s

Image
Usually, it’s wellness on Wednesdays but today’s feature: This year will be a wedding season like you haven’t seen since 1980s, with the pandemic hopefully, receding. More weddings mean more dresses. And that’s where resellers step into the picture. Because if you don’t thrift or buy second hand for anything else, you should surely thrift for formal dresses. Weddings are costly, buying secondhand helps. In fact, you can wear a dress once, and resell it again.   It’s a garment that you are probably not going to wear on repeat. Wedding attire often involves specific requirements, e.g. Hawaiian weddings, weddings with llamas, etc. making the dress more difficult to wear more than once.  I paid up for this dress, not just because of this year’s wedding fever, but because it’s such a classic silhouette. This dress would be flattering on many. The mauve color, the black cinching at the ribcage. There’s metallic sparkle in the fabric – but it’s subtle.   It’s a size 6 when...

👖A reseller on Netflix “White Hot: The Rise & Fall of Abercrombie & Fitch”

Image
Abercrombie & Fitch Flowered Sweatshirt pictured here.  Spoiler alert.   This is not a review. Thoroughly enjoyed this informative doc which is front and center about A&F as a cultural phenomenon and not about the clothes. Some of the memorable one liners:   “The clothes themselves were nothing special.” “The staff was horrendous.”   “My team called it 13 th grade.” “The very last thing it’s selling is actual(ly) garments.” “The goal is not to give people what they’re asking for.” “Everything I didn’t like about high school and put… in a store.” Besides, “It didn’t matter what the sales were.” The A&F ethos having been, in the past, I mean, what’s the point of being part of a club if you can’t exclude people? Can a mediocre clothing company, with some smoke and mirrors, earn   enormous valuations? Yeah, it can. Can this same methodology work circa 2022? Yeah, it can. With “85 percent mark-up on a t-shirt” anything is possible. Retail ...

Comfy Neti Pot & Friends

Image
Don’t try this at home without doctor’s directions. See your doctor or a medical professional. But can’t get through allergy season without the Comfy neti pot, distilled water and 2 packets of sinus wash on the nightly. Get directions and advice from a professional. This is what works for one allergy sufferer.
