Great for a short read on a train commute. Described as Micro-Memoirs, the book consists of snippets from the author’s life. A known author and middle-class poetess type, Wife and Mom, she takes an off-kilter, down-to-earth approach. Of the slim volume, my favorite Micro-Memoir was Heating & Cooling. Unlike this author, tradesmen fixing things in my home doesn’t inspire fear in me anymore. I had the home repair problem she described solved before the story’s end.
Thoroughly enjoyable, been getting some deserved buzz, filled with magic realism through the lens of women’s relationship to nature. Neat hat trick here, the author manages time travel writing about three related women through the ages. Watch the crows, who tell their own story throughout the plot. Part of the story somewhat resembles Lucy Jago’s fantastic historical fiction novel, A Net for Small Fishes. To the Violets of the World, a natural naturalist. #weywardbook
