They’re a favorite at tapas bars in Spain – and a healthy one too. But to further extend their use, you can caramelize onions and add shishito peppers for a contrast of earthy flavors. Grateful to have had a conversation with one of the produce staff at Whole Foods who shared this recipe idea with me, his take on shishitos. Popular at Spanish Tapas Bars. Here’s a different take. 1 to 1 ½ packages of Trader Joe’s Shishito Peppers 1 Large Vidalia Onion or 1 Jumbo Onion Olive Oil Salt & Pepper Shishito Peppers With Caramelized Onions  Remove the ends and cut into pieces. Place in a bowl. Prepare the onion. Quarters. Then slivers Toss the onions into a pan with olive oil and salt. Caramelize the onions low and slow for a half hour until golden browned. Incorporate the shishitos meld

Image
If you haven’t tasted tempeh before, try these Savory Tempeh Strips with Trader Joe’s brand Tempeh or Lightlife’s brand. 1 package of Tempeh cut into strips or with pre-cut strips. For the marinade: Olive Oil Worcester Sauce Gluten-Free Tamari Soy Sauce Trader Joe’s Smoky BBQ Amino Acids Garlic Powder Black Pepper Turmeric Cayenne Pepper Mustard Powder Black Pepper Balsamic Vinegar In a bowl, combine the liquid ingredients freestyle to make a marinade for the tempeh with a sprinkle of each of the spices – only a capful on the Worcester sauce. Whisk these ingredients together. Set aside. Prepare the tempeh strips, cut into even strips, start at the center. Then cut the thickness of each strip in half, as pictured. Coat the tempeh strips in the marinade in a bowl.  Cover and refrigerate the marinated tempeh for an hour. Preheat the oven. Place the marinated strips on parchment paper or aluminum foil coated baking sheet.   These strips are thin and bake quickly –
