Bitter is having its moment, especially for Fall & Winter…

The future is bitter flavors, because we crave them in our palate’s effort to distinguish what is…poisonous! A bitter irony. Organic Romaine & Chicory Salad Blend, Trader Joe’s

CVS CarePass...

costs $51.18 with tax per year.   That’s $4.27 per month.   CVS offers a $10.00 monthly reward with CarePass which means, the real monthly reward is $5.73 which is worth it to the faithful, if you shop often. The reward is added to your ExtraCare card as a 20% discount. #cvscarepass 💸

The Hunger, A Memoir of an Accidental Chef – John Delucie

Image
Added to the collection of chef bios and chef auto bios. I had no idea who this NYC-based chef was or his success with the tout le monde celeb resto, The Waverly Inn, around 2007.   A late-in-life chef and professional journeyman, he participates in some comic and not-so-comic loser behavior.   Deeply appreciated the taste of back home, classic, retro Long Island and his love for the summer produce there. The non-linear structure keeps bringing us back to The Waverly Inn, his place.   @ChefJohnDeLucie

Tell Me Lies – Carola Lovering

Oddly effective college years novel, the heroine Lucy shows us her self-destructive reasoning.   Her lugubrious, conventional, tacky, ersatz boyfriend Stephen is a true-to-life characterization. From the trailer, looks like they flattened them into soap opera characters for the sepia-toned, somber Hulu series, but perhaps not. The tone from the novel seemed to be more like a cross between Animal House and Gone Girl. Lucy shows us her why then begins a better path.
