Over 3 Month Review of the RingConn Gen 2

Opinions! Not a health professional. Review of a user’s experience. Not an endorsement.

If I ever thought there would be a day where I monitored my sleep with an AI driven titanium ring on my finger, well.  But here we are.

I chose the RingConn Gen 2 for its suspected sleep apnea monitoring function. This ring trends toward older people, it seems to me.  Importantly, if you are buying a Smart Ring, there is no subscription service with the RingConn Gen 2. The ring for the Hollywood set, the aptly named Oura Ring, comes with a monthly subscription fee which isn’t part of my budget.

Though, I would advise that if you are looking for more socialization with people, opt for the Hollywood favorite Oura Ring, because friends are creating health circles, sharing information, for real.  Could be a tool to meet and bond with people depending on your goals and social set. Oura is definitely a culture, in my opinion.

Back to the RingConn Gen 2. Once you make your payment, RingConn sends you a free sizing kit, you input your measurement into your order on their website. Ideally, my understanding:  for the index finger, but really, either digit that’s adjacent to the index finger, if it’s comfortable. Once you receive the ring, it’s easy enough to download the app onto your phone. If I could work the setup, PhoneOn! Blue Tooth On!, anyone can.

I got the ring as one of many supplements to my CPAP machine, which delivers continuous air through the nose. The RingConn Gen 2 measures metrics like hours slept and stress levels, providing a more overall picture than the measurements from my partial use of the CPAP machine. The sleep apnea function does provide a nightly suspected AHI (apnea-hypopnea index), the key measurement in sleep apnea, in three-day increments.

For me, it’s a keeper.  It’s you and me, RingConn Gen 2, as part of my long-term, on-going and strangely never-ending sleep measurement journey.  I’ve been surprised at how intuitive this Smart Ring is and encouraging too - with its good vibes only messaging. (I don’t appreciate the frowny face from the CPAP machine especially at 4:00 am in the morning.)

If you feel there is a discrepancy between how much you think you sleep and how you much you actually sleep, you might want to give it a try.  Prepare for a minor comfort adjustment in your sleep if you choose to use a Smart Ring. There are many options in the marketplace.
