An Amazon Prime Churn – Free shipping + Cashback

I used a Free Amazon Prime trial for 30 days to maximize cashback rewards on one of my credit cards.  With Amazon Prime Membership costing $14.99/month or $139/year, my strategy is to skip it, as with most subscriptions.  Timing the free Prime month trial with an Amazon cashback category on my credit card allowed me to gather and purchase everything I needed from Amazon at once with free shipping and cashback.

Amazon makes it easy with lists where you can just add your saved list items to Cart for purchase.  Added benefits were discounts at Whole Foods and free Prime Video. I got the items I needed from Amazon -  from household items to a new replacement bathroom sconce to a new electric outdoor grill (more on that later). Conclusion:  I’ll miss Prime Video, where I got caught up on most shows, but definitely not at $14.99 a month.

Not my first rodeo doing this, I cancelled promptly before the thirty days were up. Churning, as it is called, multiple credit cards or free trials (when you get an offer and then cancel before expiration) strikes me as exhausting. People do it. However, I did create an excel for tracking my few cards for cashback as a result of this one successful churn. You can find examples of credit card trackers online.
