Budget Conducting Gels for NuFace Use – Opinion
NuFace is a FDA-approved home device that emits microcurrents, which are gentle electrical currents that mimic the body’s natural ionic flow. Microcurrents stimulate the facial muscles, helping to tone and lift the skin and address skin concerns.
With many
beauty devices, you need to keep a renewable supply of accessories to keep them
operating. In the case of NuFace, it’s conducting gel. Without conducting gel applied to the face,
you can’t use the device. These devices are a little like subscription
services.
The conducting
gel on NuFace’s website that matches the device is too pricey for Greens
Water’s budget. It’s $35.00, NuFace
Hydrating Microcurrent Gel Activator (with IonPlex® and hyaluronic acid)
for 1.69 Oz. What to do to still get the
benefits of a NuFace routine without this pricey gel?
Apparently, you
can use sonar conducting gel from a medical supply store, but that’s not very
convenient. So, here’s some less pricey, commonly available, options:
Target’s Up
& Up Clear Aloe Vera Gel - 16oz., $5.59:
this conducting gel has a clear advantage being dermatologist tested and
without fragrance, dyes and alcohol. It’s the optimal choice.
From Trader
Joe’s: Body Essence Aloe Vera Gel with Green Tea Extract is…frequently out of
stock. Definitely not fragrance free and not even necessarily recommended for facial
use. However, the Green Tea Extract is a boost!
Trader Joe’s
also has the aesthetically pleasing Ultra Hydrating Gel Moisturizer with Aloe &
Green Tea Extract, which might work as a conductor, as some serums do. At $8.99,
I haven’t tried it because, with only 2.5 oz., it’s less cost effective than
the 16 oz. Up & Up. You end up using
a lot of gel with regular use of the NuFace and 2.5 oz. won’t last long, but
you could probably use it as a less expensive treat for a few uses. It’s the Quince
of conducting gels. 😊
There are other
cheap Aloe Vera gels at supermarkets in the sunscreen section. They probably aren’t
dermatologist tested like the Target option and not necessarily for facial use.
Besides, when you go to Target, you can also check out the latest in the Good
& Gather section. Glycerin, opinion only, is a sleeper beauty ingredient
with or without NuFace use.
