This little light of mine… Blogger Exclusive!
People hate my posts about reuse, no engagement, so here’s a post about reuse. You don’t have to read it.
I purchased the
Leviton Vintage Lead Crystal 3 Way Glass and Brass lamp at an estate sale for
$8.00. Needed a lamp for the bedside
table. The lower crystal portion of the lamp
lights with a button and the bulb at the shade also lights with 3 settings. It hit the design aesthetic I was looking for
– small but taller in height so the light would reflect against the wall.
Creating even more light.
I had tested it
at the estate sale to make sure it was working. The bulb worked too.
The local
thrift store often has lamp shades, but with odd hours, I went to Home Depot, and
got a lampshade, on the smaller side at 10”. This one, for $21.74, was at least
part linen.
I removed the
(functional) harp for this lampshade but am saving it for resale. The internet says
it’s ok to remove the harp but you can go ahead and have a long disagreement
about it, if you like. The handyman will do a double check when next here.
I brought in
the project for $29.74. Online the base
of the lamp is priced at about $70.00.
I’ll probably keep it, but could sell it marketplace style. I’ll
entertain using the harp if I find a grander lampshade that’s right aesthetically,
at the thrift.
The lamp proved
to be a little powerhouse. I love that it lights at two places. It isn’t faux wood, er, plastic, and it isn’t
a low-slung design as so many beige-y looking small lamps are these days. An aesthetic and practical shabby chic win, especially
when you don’t have to wait for Saturday to go to estate sales.
